A Melbourne journalist called Edward Honey suggested in the London Evening News that a mark of respect should be shown for fallen soldiers.
ReplyDeleteKing George V said on 7th November 1919 a two minute silence should be observed. On the 11th November at 11.00pm 1919 Australia observed a two minute silence for the first time.
Amistice Day is the day when the first World War ended after 4 years, four months and 14 days
after an agreement to stop fighting between the Germans and Allies.
This year the last soldier from the First World War died.
