In Malta a boy or girl normally aged 7 to 10 does the preaching at the midnight mass insted of a priest.The preaching of the child is an old and popular traditon which has taken place since 1883.After the child has preached the service the priest will give the child a present which is usually a statue of baby Jesus in a manger.By the 6th of January all the Christmas decorations are down in Malta.In India they decorate Mango or Banana trees.In India ,Christmas is called Bada din meaning Big Day in Hindu Different parts of India celebrate Christmas in different ways.

  4. In New Zealand Christmas trees are called Pohutukawa.People in New Zealand don't bring Pohutukawa trees inside and they bloom in winter.At Christmas in New Zealand it is sunny and hot.

In China the most popular decorations at Christmas is hanning up lanterns.Many of the Chinese shops are decorated and Christmas carols are sung.The main festivals are at the end of January.Children in Hungaria receive present at the 6th of Decembrer and Christmas Eve.Baby Jesus gives them presents on Christmas Eve.In Hungaria people decorate their trees with honey cakes.

It is usual for people in Wales to buy a new Christmas tree decoration for eachother every year.Lots of children go to church on Christmas Eve.Children hang up stockings up like us.A coin is usually hidden in cakes at Christmas time.People have fireworks at Christmas.Children in Brazil get their presents in their shoes. In Brazil they have a hot Christmas because it is at the start of Summer.Children do Nativities like us.

  7. People in Norway put rice outside their doors for the Barn elves.Father Christmas is called Julenisse in Norway. I Norway people eat a rib of lamb instead of turkey.People in Norway have a traditional Christmas drink.

  9. Everybody in Germany hangs up advent wreathes at Christmas.People in Germany make special cookies at Christmas.At Christmas they have a special dinner of goose with potato balls and red cabbage.

  10. In Finland people have sauna on Christmas Eve.A sauna is a hot room with a fireplace.In Finland Christmas Eve is more important than Christmas Day.It snows alot at Christmas in Finland so they usually have a white Christmas.

  12. In Austrailia kangaroos pull santa's sleigh. Most children swim outside and play cricket. In Australia it is very hot at Christmas.Instead of having a hot Christmas dinner people in Austraila have a cold Christmas dinner.For dessert they usually have cheesecake or pavalova.

  15. Santa Calus is placed ontop of the Christmas tree and onraments are put on the Christmas tree. Christmas in Denmark is about spending time together.People in Denmark leave bowls of porige out for the pixies.Santa Claus is called Julemanden.

  16. In Arentina houses are decorated with red and white garlands.

    The christmas trees are decorated with coloured lights and ornaments and on top instead of a star there is Santa Claus.

    For Christmas dinner they have pig or a roast peacock and a great variety of dishes.

    Argentina children leave their real shoes out by the tree for Santa. They do not leave cookies or milk.

    In Italy merry Christmas is buon Natale.

    In Rome and southern Italy a large female eel is roasted, baked or fried, is a firm favourite to eat on Christmas eve.

  19. La,Befana brings children in Italy their presents. La,Befana brings them presents on the 5th of January.Only fish is eaten by the Italians but no meat is ate.The children also receive presents from Santa.

  21. People in Poland don't eat their meal until they see the first star. They have 12 courses of food reprecenting the 12 diciples. In Poland they decorate Christmas trees like us and send Christmas cards.
