Deirdre and John were in our class today to give us more information about the Starbucks and Lurgan Library Project our class is taking part in.
The theme of the project is 'Detectives' and when we go to the library we will have some fun wearing disguises.
We will have three outings- twice to the library to learn more about reading and then a trip to Starbucks in Rushmere Shopping Centre for a treat. On each visit we will be able to choose a free book to keep. Think about what Deirdre and John told us and about what part of the project you are looking forward to most. ReplyDeleteThe first time we went to starbucks it was the 10th Dec o9.
We got a free book mine was called The city of Ember.The second time we went I got a pirates book which has some true tales like if you were sent a letter with a black spot on it from a pirate you were going to be killed.Pirates never got thier enemies to walk the plank they just chopped them up and feed them to the sharks.
Friday 26th Feb 2010 we went to starbucks for the last time I got another book called The Hundred Mile An Hour Dog sounds a bit like me riding my suzuki motorbike ha ha.We all got a drink and a bun i had a hot choclate drink and a choclate chimp cookie lovely.
Our School Visit
ReplyDeleteOur class (Mr Magowan P6) visited Lurgan Library and Starbucks for our class outing.
10th December - On our first visit to Lurgan Library we met out leaders John and Deirdre. They gave us sheets to look for clues as each person had to dress as a detective. I wore dark glasses, a hat and had a magnifying glass. My detective name was 003. Each group had to look for the things on the sheets and try to be the first back. This was an excellent day out and I received a book of George`s Marvellous medicine.
1st February - On our second outing we walked to the library. When we arived we dressed in our detective outfits and were then given pages from John and Deirdre. We had to find the right book on the sheet and then we all did a word search. I received my second book which was Fantastic Mr Fox.
26th February - This was my favourite outing as we got to go on a bus to Rushmere shopping centre for our treat. We went to Starbucks and had hot chocolate and a doughnut. This was a special day out and I think everyone had a great day.
Our Trip to Lurgan Library and Starbucks.
ReplyDeleteTwo members of staff from Lurgan Library, Deidre and John organised the visits.
They were to take place on 10th December, 1st February and 26th February
Our first two visits were to the Library. The theme of the visits was detective work. Each class member had to come in a disguise. There were clues to solve and we had to find out the answers by investigating the Library. We found out about the different sections in the Library, learned about different authors and about how many computers the library has. We also got our photos taken for our private detective ID cards. My code name was Agent McCready and I was in a group with Lauren, Bethany and Sophie. Our group name was SDA which stands for Super Detective Agency. At the end of those visits we were allowed to chose two free books. I chose 'Jane Blond Twice the Spylet' by Jill Marshall and 'Cool' by Michael Morpurgo. We all had so much fun.
On our third trip we went to Starbucks. The bus collected us in the morning and brought us to Rushmere shopping centre where Starbucks is located. The staff here had a table reserved for us and while we waited for our food and drink they gave us puzzles to complete. I had hot chocolate and a cookie. We had a group photo taken to remind us of our visit and we also received another free book. I got 'Starring Tracy Beaker' by Jacqueline Wilson. Everyone had a good time including Mr Magowen, Deirdre and John.
The things I enjoyed most of all about our three trips were pretending to be a detective, getting three books to read and the lovely hot chocolate in starbucks.
Library/Starbucks report
ReplyDeleteOn the 10th Dec, 1st feb and the 26th feb we had the Lurgan library trip. The people that organised it were John and Deirdre from the Lurgan library. We walked there in our disguises and when we got there we met John with a black wig on and Deirdre with glasses and a hat. I wore a hat, scarf and sunglasses. We tried to solve some hard problems and only got 2 or 3 wrong. I really enjoyed it and the book i got was called rabbitmagic. The second trip was when we went to the library again and we had to walk round the library looking for clues and Jane and I found them all. Rachel, Amber, Jane and I had a group called g.r.d.a that stands for girls rule detective agency.I wore the same disguise this time. The book I got this time was the Vicar of Nibbleswick.The third time we went was to Starbucks and we went on a bus and didnt wear our disguises and we got some food and drink,I got a big chocolate muffin and water but we couldnt go round finding clues because we were in Starbucks,the last book i got was Horrible Histories. The trip was really good and if i had a chance to go again i would like to do more puzzles, I thought it was really good. I enjoyed the 3 free books, going to tarbucks and going round the Library finding clues.

ReplyDeleteOn December 10th we went to the park and walked to Lurgan library. When we got there we got into groups and we had a challenge.
The challenge was that we had a clue on a sheet and we had to find clues.
The people who organised were Deirdre and John.
My book was called Vicious Vikings
Day 2
On 1st February we went to the park and went to the library and when we got there we got back into our groups.
Our new challenge was finding clues with words and they made a sentence.
My book was Kensuke`s Kingdom.
Day 3
On 27th February we got on a bus and went to Starbucks.
When we got there I had a chocolate muffin with water.
And I got a new book called Stormin Normans.
DAY 1
ReplyDeleteOn the 10 December 2009 we walked to Lurgan Library and we met Deirdre and John. John was wearing a long, black wig because we all had to wear a diguise as we were pretending to work for a Detective Agency. My disguise was a Scottish hat with orange hair and sunglasses and I also had my own namecard with Agent T on it. We had lots of little puzzles to solve and we all got a book, mine was 'The Magic Finger' by Roald Dahl.
Day 2
On the 1 February 2010 we walked to Lurgan Library and wore our disguises again. We had to solve clues on a card to find a book and when we found it we had to bring it back to Deirdre and John. We all got another book and I picked 'Mrs Jolley's Joke Shop' by Allan Alberg and Colin McNaughton.
Day 3
On the 26 February 2010 we got a school bus to Rushmere Shopping Centre in Craigavon and went to Starbucks. I had to do crosswords while waiting for my cookie and lemon and mango drink. When we all had finished our snacks we could choose another book and I picked Indiana Jones. We also got our photograph taken with our certificates.
I enjoyed going to Lurgan Library because I hadn't been there before and it was a good experience. I have now got three new books to read and I love reading. Solving clues was great as we had to find a book that Deirdre and John had made themselves. I loved Starbucks, especially my big cookie!!
I would wear a different disguise if we had to go again.
Library and Starbucks project
ReplyDeleteOn December the 10th we walked through the park and town to the library.We had to bring disguises because our theme was detectives. We met Deirdre and John who organised the trip to the library.John was wearing a wig as his disguise.At the library we put on our disguises and got into groups.When we got into the library it looked so big and new. I really liked it.We went into a special room where we chose our group and detective names.My name was agent McCullough. In our groups half of us solved riddles and the other half followed clues to solve a mystery.Then we swapped around.We then each chose a book. I chose Butterfly Lion.
On the 1st of February we went to the library again.We brought our disguises again aswell. We went into our groups where we met Deirdre and John.We went to our groups and solved more riddles. We then followed clues to find a special book somewhere in the library.We found the book after following all the clues.Again we were allowed to choose a book and this time I chose The Lottie Project. I really enjoyed reading it.
On February the 26th we got on a bus to go to Starbucks in Rushmere. We got off the bus and went into Starbucks.We chose something to eat and something to drink. I chose a cookie to eat and fizzy water to drink.We did a crossword and solved a riddle while we ate our things.We cose another book. This time I chose Vicious Vikings.We got a certificte,a group photo and our groups file.
The things I enjoyed most were solving riddles,getting books and following clues.
If I could do it over again I would change my agent name to agent 101.
REPORT OF LIBRARY AND STARBUCKS.
ReplyDeleteOn the 10th of December we went on our first visit to the library, we were disguised as detectives. We had to solve riddles and look for books that we were told to find, like find three cookbooks and write down there names. We made up our own agent names, mine was AGENT WALKER. Then we got a free book, I got Animal Ark Puppy Puzzle. Then we went back to schoolwith Mr Magowan as our lollie pop man.
On the 1st of February we went on our second visit to the libraury. We all dressed as detectives again, even John and Deirdre the organizers dressed up. Deirdre put on sunglasses and John put on a wig. Then we had to solve riddles then we went to find clues for the mystery book. Amber and I found ours first with the help of super Katie. Then we got another free book, this time I got The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl. Then we went back to school.
On the 26th of February we went on our last trip but not to the library but to Starbucks coffee shop. We travelled there on a bus. I ordered a chocolate doughnut but got a chocolate muffin. Then we got another free book, I got a Tiara Club book. Then we went back to school singing silly songs on the bus.

ReplyDeleteThe first time we had to walk to the library it was the 10th December 2009.It was organised by Deirdre and John the librarians.The theme was detectives and we had to wear disguises some of them were really funny.Johns disguise was a wig it was funny.We had to make up an agent name mine was Agent Calvert.We got to solve riddles and followed clues in a library hunt.We had to get into groups during that.At the end we got a free book.
2nd Time.
The 2nd time we had to walk to the library.The date was the 1st of February 2010.We got into the same teams as last time and put are disguises on and solved riddles,then Deirdre told us to choose 2 people from each team to go on the library hunt.Then the 2 people who went out had solved 5 clues just like deirdre told us then they give it to me and Natasha.We went into the library to solve 5 clues and come bake with the correct book.We brought it back and give it to Deirdre we were the first ones done.We got another free book and walked back home.
3rd time.
The third time we went on a bus to starbucks on the 26th February 2010.This time we didn't wear or bring our disguises.When we got there we got a table and sat down.On the tables was a riddle and a crossword we had to complete.We all had to order something.I got a chocolate muffin and hot chocolate to eat and drink.I really enjoyed it. We got another free book.
Lurgan library teamed up. And mr magowan got us a three day trip. The people that took us were called Deirdre and John. On the 10 of december we went to Lurgan library. We did some detective work and we dressed up. On the first of february we went to the library and followed a sheet to find clues. One half went first. And the other went second. We got detective cards. My detective name was agent jelly. Our team name was L.T.M.P.U. on 26 febrary we went to star bucks. We went by mini bus. When we got there we had a word search to do. I got hot chocolate and a muffin. At the end of every trip we got a free book.

ReplyDeleteon day 1 we met John and Deirdre who organised to go to the lurgan library. they gave us some sheets and other things like that. We went around the library looking for some sheets. At the end I got a detective card with a spy name of your own. my name was called coolcat and we got a book.
Day 2
on day 2 we did some more detective quizs and went to the library up stairs to talk about being a member. when we went back down we got another book to take home.
Day 3
on day 3 we arrived from a bus to starbucks.we all sat down and got something to eat.we got a book and a notebook for the quizs we done at the lurgan library.when we were done we got a bus back to are school.

We walked up through Lurgan Park,up Castle Lane and then through the town to the Libary. One of the assisants came with us. When we got there we put on our disguise. I wore glasses and brought a paper withholes to look through.Then we met Deirdre and John. We got into groups. I got into a group with Bethany, Sophie and Natasha. We had to search the place to find certian books. Sophie and Natasha went first.While they were gone we had to solve problems. Then Bethany and I went out to do the last half. When we came back we had think of a group name.We called ourselves the S.D.A. It's short for Super Detective Agency. Then we chose our first free book. I chose Dolphin Diaries.Then we said bye,then went back to school.
Day 2 1/2/10
We walked the same way to the Libary.We got together with Deirdre and John. We got into the same groups.We had to find clues this time. Bethany andI went first.The clues were in books and all over the Libary. When we got back we had to solve more problems.Sophie and Natasha found the last few clues.When we got backwe got to choose our 2nd book.I chose Horrible History Woeful Second World War.Then we went back to school.
Day 3 26/2/10
We got to go to Starbucks. YES! We got abus over.It was tiny. Everyone was singing songs.We walked through the Shopping Centre.We met up with Deirdre and John I got a chocolate muffin and water to eat and drink.We did puzzles. When I got to go up and pick my book I chose Horrible Hitory Awesome Egyptains.
