  2. Shackleton explored this AREa in 1907.
They travelled there in a ship called Nimrod.
They brought lots of equipment with them to do science experiments, food, shelter and a motor-car. At the end of their journey they found the magnetic south pole. Some men fell off their sledges into big deep ice holes, some had frostbite and snowblindness and they ran out of food. They wanted to be the fist people to find the south pole.

  5. Marco Polo
Marco Polo started his travels 1271.
He sailed in a boat from Venice to the Middle East. He then went overland to Persia and through the Gobi Desert to Beijing.
They used boats to cross the sea and camels to go across the desert. He explored the land around Beijing and wrote a book about all the things he found like porcelain, coal, gunpowder, printing, paper money and silk.
He explored the region because he wanted to be the first to see these things.

  6. Fairly Early Airlines
Attention please holidaymakers, today as I talk to you across the airwaves apparently there has been an earthquake at our destination. Please do not despair our aircraft comes with an airbag for each person and make sure you are not careless with them. As you are aware we don't have a staircase on our aeroplane, so please be prepared to find an area on the ground floor!
Hope you have a nice relaxing flight and thank you for travelling with Fairly Early Airlines.
