Titanic Top Ten


This week we will be learning more about the Titanic. Research some facts about the Titanic and put together a list of your most interesting Top Ten Titanic facts.

  1. 1. The titanic is 882 feet 9 inches (269m) long
    2. The titanic was launched at 1912.
    3. The titanic struck an iceburg and sank.
    4. When the titanic struck the iceburg bits of the iceburg flew into the titanic and hit a number of people.
    5. Over 1,500 people died when the Titanic sunk.
    6. Women and children had to get onto the life boats first.
    7. If men tried to jump onto the life boats before the children and women they would off been shot by the sailors.
    8. The Titanic was the biggest ship in the world.
    9. The Titanic had only 20 life boats on it.
    10. 705 people survived the sinking off the ship.

  3. 1. The Titanic was built at Harland and Wolf, Belfast costing $7,500,000.
    2. It took from 1909-1912 to construct and was 268 metres long.
    3. The ship was so brand new that when the passengers boarded on 10th April 1912 the paint was still wet in places.
    4. On the night of 14th April 1912 the Titanic was hit an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean.
    5. The men that were the lookouts had no binoculars and didnt see the iceberg until the last minute.
    6. The ship had only 20 lifeboats that could hold 1178 people but there were 1434 passengers and 885 crew.
    7. 1523 people died and only 306 bodies were found.
    8. It took the Titanic about three hours to totally sink.
    9.Captain Smith was planning to retire after the Titanic's maiden voyage.
    10.Wealthiest person on board was Colonel J.J Astor worth £10,000,000.
